Kate Mara and Gabriel Luna to play a couple in the sci-fi thriller 'The Astronaut'

Gabriel Luna, who recently played Tommy Miller in the acclaimed HBO series The Last of Us, has been cast alongside Kate Mara for a new sci-fi thriller. Titled The Astronaut, the duo slips into the role of a married couple, with Mara as the titular character – the lone survivor of a space disaster. The film is written and directed by Jess Varley who is making her feature film directorial debut. The Matrix and John Wick: Chapter 4 star Laurence Fishburne will also play a pivotal role in the project. Filming for The Astronaut is expected to commence next month.

Jodie Comer plays the lead role in the dystopian survival drama 'The End We Start From'

Acclaimed British star Jodie Comer, who is best known for her turn as the iconic anti-hero Villanelle in the hit crime drama series Killing Eve, is set to play the lead in a new dystopian survival thriller. Helmed by Mahalia Belo, the film is set in London in the aftermath of an environmental crisis. The film is based on Megan Hunter's novel and will explore themes of motherhood and feminism. The plot revolves around the dangerous floods that wreak havoc in the English metropolitan. The End We Start From is expected to hit theatres on December 8, 2023.

‘Jawan’ sets new record for Bollywood films at global box office

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s action thriller Jawan released in theatres on September 7 and has rocked the global box office. The Atlee directorial has already shattered several box office records, and according to new reports, it could become the biggest Bollywood or Hindi release globally. The film has already grossed $46 million globally and is said to be eyeing an $80 million total for its opening weekend. This would make it the only film behind S.S. Rajamouli’s Telugu films Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and RRR for the biggest weekend opening for an Indian film at the global box office. Jawan is expected to overtake both Dangal and Khan’s previous film Pathaan at the global box office by the end of its theatrical run.

Trailer for ‘The Great Indian Family’ starring Vicky Kaushal to release tomorrow

The highly-anticipated Vicky Kaushal film The Great Indian Family is set to release its trailer on 12 September this week. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the Yash Raj Films production is said to be a family entertainer and features an ensemble cast of Kaushal along with Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Sadiya Siddiqui, and Alka Amin among others. The Great Indian Family is set to release in theatres on September 22.

Shazam star Zachary Levi plays lead in survivor thriller 'Not Without Hope'

Shazam! lead star Zachary Levi is set to essay the lead role in the upcoming survival thriller Not Without Hope. He will star alongside Josh Duhamel, Quentin Plair, and Marshall Cook as four men stranded in the Gulf of Mexico. The film is inspired by true events and is adapted from the book by Nick Schuyler who happens to be one of the survivors. Not Without Hope is directed by Joe Carnahan, who is best known for films such as The A-Team and The Grey.

‘Poor Things’ wins Golden Lion for best film at the Venice International Film Festival

Acclaimed Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, who has helmed award-winning films such as The Lobster, Dogtooth, and The Favourite, screened his latest film, Poor Things, at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month on September 1. The surrealist black comedy film starring Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe has won the coveted Golden Lion at the festival. The film was scheduled to release theatrically on September 8, however, the release has been postponed indefinitely as a result of the dual writers and actors strikes in Hollywood.
