Liam Cunningham hints at returning as Ser Davos in Jon Snow spin-off series

Irish actor Liam Cunningham, whose latest film The Last Voyage of the Demeter, is set to release in theatres this weekend, has provided an update on one of his most popular on-screen avatars. Cunningham, who is best known for essaying the role of the fan-favourite character  Ser Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones, could reprise his role as the Onion Knight in the Game of Thrones spin off show around Jon Snow. While not much has been revealed regarding the spinoff by HBO, Kit Harrington is expected to reprise his role as Jon Snow aka the Aegon Targaryen. Cunningham revealed in a recent interview that he would love to return to the franchise. Considering Ser Davos is one of Jon’s closest friends and allies, Cunningham making a comeback is not outside the realms of possibility.

Vir Das cast in ‘Call Me Bae’ alongside Ananya Panday and Gurfateh

Actor and comedian Vir Das has been added to the cast in an upcoming series bankrolled by Dharma Productions’ digital banner Dharmatic Entertainment. He will be joined by Ananya Panday and Gurfateh Pirzada for the series titled Call Me Bae. The plot revolves around Panday’s character, who is disowned by her affluent family after a scandal breaks out. This leads her on a path of self-discovery and she gains a new perspective on life and people. Created by Ishita Moitra, the series is written by Samina Motlekar and Rohit Nair, with Collin D’Cunha serving as the director. Call Me Bae is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video by the end of 2023.

'Creature Commandos' has already begun production according to David Harbour

Earlier this year DC Films co-head James Gunn revealed that he is working on a script for an animated adaptation of the popular DC comic book characters called the Creature Commandos. While details regarding the project have been kept under wraps, lead star David Harbour has provided an update on the animated series. The Stranger Things star, who plays the lead in the new sports film Gran Turismo, has revealed that production for the series has already commenced. He added that the script is funny and compelling and that he has already recorded his voice-acting part as Eric Frankenstein. Creature Commandos revolves around a ragtag group of military superheroes who undertake black ops missions on behalf of the US government. James Gunn’s brother, Sean plays the role of G I Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s character in The Suicide Squad, and the rest of the cast includes Maria Bakalova,  Indira Varma, Zoe Chao, Alan Tudyk, and Steve Agee. Creature Commandos is expected to release in late 2024

Paramount announces movie releases despite ongoing strikes

The ongoing dual actors and writers strike has halted several film and TV productions in the US. There was even speculation that the highly anticipated Dune: Part 2 could be postponed. However, Warner Bros appears to be moving forward with the same release date of 3rd November 2023. It appears Paramount Studios is also following suit by conforming multiple releases for 2023 and 2024. The most significant among these releases is the Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which is scheduled to release on 6th October 2023. Paramount CEO Bob Bakish revealed that he is confident that there will be a quick resolution to the ongoing strikes and that the release calendar will not be affected. Some of the other major Paramount releases include Bob Marley, If, Dear Santa, and A Quiet Place: Day One.

Netflix Doc ‘Sly’, about Sylvester Stallone to close Toronto Film Festival

After Arnold Schwarzenegger released a Netflix documentary about his life and career recently it was inevitable that a Sylvester Stallone documentary would be arriving soon. The upcoming Stallone documentary titled Sly will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on 16 September. And it will also be the closing screener for the festival this year. The documentary is helmed by Thom Zimny and will receive its global premiere on 17 September at the Roy Thomson Hall. Sly will be released on Netflix in November later this year.

A24 developing ‘Talk to Me’ sequel

A24 Studios, which has released several acclaimed films in recent years, including the multiple Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, has announced a new project.  Twins Danny and Michael Philippou are set to return to helm a sequel to their horror film Talk to Me. Titled, Talk 2 Me, the horror film is among the several films from the same genre A24 has worked on in recent years, including X and Pearl. Further details surrounding the project are yet to be disclosed.
