Marvel series 'Echo' release date announced

Alaqua Cox is set to reprise her role as Maya Lopez aka Echo in the upcoming Disney+ original Marvel series Echo. Cox made her acting debut in the Marvel series Hawkeye, and a standalone series for her character was later announced by Marvel. The new series is set to be released on November 29, and it will also be the first Disney+ original series to release all of its episodes on the same day, similar to Netflix’s binge model. Iconic characters from the acclaimed TV series Daredevil, such as Vincent D'Onofrio’s Wilson ‘Kingpin’ Fisk and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil, will also feature in the new series.

Loki season 2 release date confirmed

The God of mischief, Loki, is set to return to television after DIsney+ announced that the second season of Loki will premiere later this year. The new season will be released on October 6 during this year’s Halloween. The first season ended in a major cliffhanger, with major implications for the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki, and he will be joined by returning cast members Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Jonathan Majors. It remains to be seen how much involvement Majors’ character Kang will have in the new season, considering the controversies he was been involved in recently. Kang was introduced in the season finale of Loki season one and was established as the primary villain in the MCU in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has also been announced for 2025 with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm.

Former WWE Champion Seth Rollins cast in 'Captain America 4'

We have more Marvel news coming your way. The highly-anticipated fourth instalment of the Captain America franchise titled, Captain America: New World Order, has cast former WWE Champion Seth Rollins. Widely regarded as one of the greatest pro-wrestlers of the new era in WWE, Rollins joins WWE stars Dave Bautista, John Cena, and Dwayne ‘The Rock Johnson, in appearing in big-budget DC or Marvel productions. While his role has not been officially confirmed, there is growing speculation online that he could be playing one of the members of the villainous Serpent Society. The movie is set to release on May 3, 2024, with Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America from Chris Evans’ character Steve Rogers. Harrison Ford will essay the role of Thaddeus Ross, replacing the late William Hurt. while Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier.

Dustin Hoffman, Brian Cox, and Jennifer Coolidge cast in new crime comedy

Veteran Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman has been cast alongside Succession star Brian Cox and The White Lotus actress Jennifer Coolidge in a new crime comedy. They will be joined by Gabrielle Union in Dito Montiel’s directorial titled Riff Raff. Details regarding the plot and release date are yet to be announced.

Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs to play lead roles in 'The Salt Path'

Sex Education, The Crown, and The X-Files star Gillian Anderson will join Jason Isaacs, best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, for an upcoming film. Directed by Tony-winner Marianne Elliott, the film is an adaption of the best-selling memoir The Salt Path. The memoir is written by Raynor Winn and revolves around Winn and her husband Moth, and how they deal with crippling challenges by embarking along the South West Coast Path also known as the Salt Path, spanning over 1000 kilometres between Somerset and Dorset in England.

Tim Burton’s career to be analysed in new docuseries

A docuseries is in development which will focus on the remarkable career of gothic fantasy filmmaker Tim Burton. The four-part docuseries will feature in-depth interviews with some of the biggest stars who have collaborated with Burton, including Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Christopher Walken, Danny DeVito, Mia Wasikowska, Christoph Waltz, and Jenny Ortega. Music composer Danny Elfman, another longtime Burton collaborator, will also be interviewed and he will also be working on the music for the docuseries. The project is helmed by Tara Wood.

ESPN announces Serena Williams docuseries

There is another docuseries about a celebrated global figure in the works, and it's based on none other than the 23-time Tennis Singles Grand Slam winner Serena Williams. Titled, In The Arena: Serena Williams, the docuseries will be helmed by Gotham Chopra, and will be co-produced by ESPN, Religion of Sports and NFL legend Tom Brady’s 199 Productions. Further details surrounding the project have been kept under wraps.
