Melissa McCarthy brings holiday magic in 'Genie' trailer

In the upcoming Peacock film, Genie, Oscar-nominated actress Melissa McCarthy takes on the role of Flora, a magical genie who turns the life of a man called Bernard Bottle around. Portrayed by Emmy-nominated actor Paapa Essiedu, Bottle is depicted as a man whose life is falling apart. While enduring a painful trial separation, he is also a victim of job loss. A chance encounter with Flora offers promise as she has the power to realise all his wishes, leading to a series of hilarious modern-day adventures. With a supporting cast that includes talents such as standup-comedian Marc Maron, Remember Me actor Tate Ellington, and others, Genie promises to be a classic holiday fairytale about the power of friendship and family. The film is set to premiere on November 22, just before Thanksgiving, on Peacock.

Mark Wahlberg-led spy comedy 'The Family Plan' sets December release date

Apple Original Films has announced that their upcoming spy comedy, The Family Plan, starring  Mark Wahlberg, will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from December 15. The film follows Wahlberg as a former assassin who must protect his family while they believe they're on vacation. The movie also features Mission Impossible actress Michelle Monaghan, French actor Saïd Taghmaoui, The Protégé actress Maggie Q, and more. New images from the film showcase Wahlberg and Monaghan as a couple, navigating the challenges of family life amid dangerous threats. Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, produced by Skydance, and with a script by David Coggeshall, The Family Plan promises an exciting and humorous adventure.

A24’s Death of a Unicorn has completed filming and expanded its star-studded cast, featuring new additions like Midsommar’s Will Poulter, Madam Secretary actress Téa Leoni, and Barry actor Anthony Carrigan, alongside lead actors Paul Rudd and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega. The film explores a unique premise where a father and daughter accidentally end up killing a unicorn, setting off a series of unforeseen consequences. Directed by Alex Scharfman, the film is characterised as a fantasy black comedy. Notably, A24 was able to continue production amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. John Carpenter, the master of horror, will compose the film's score, along with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. The release date for Death of a Unicorn is yet to be announced.
