‘The Black Phone 2’ dials up the horror with a darker, bloodier twist
Horror fans, get ready, The Black Phone 2 is cranking up the terror! Director Scott Derrickson teases a “more graphic” sequel that shifts from middle school nightmares to high school horrors, promising a darker, more intense story. Ethan Hawke’s chilling Grabber is set to return, despite meeting his grim end in the first film, hinting at a deeper dive into the supernatural. With original cast members back and an October 17, 2025, theatrical release, this Blumhouse hit is ready to haunt a new generation. Paddington’s back for more Marmalade-fuelled adventures
Everyone’s favourite talking bear is not done with his charming escapades just yet! Studiocanal’s CEO Anna Marsh has confirmed that a fourth Paddington film is officially in the works after Paddington in Peru raked in a sweet $104 million globally. The latest instalment took our beloved bear to the jungles of Peru to find his missing aunt, but the adventure doesn’t stop there. Along with another movie, a brand-new Paddington TV series and a stage musical are also in development. Until then, revisit the magic of Paddington on Hulu before Paddington in Peru hits U.S. theatres on February 14, 2025!
Wes Anderson’s ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ is coming and is bringing a star-studded family feud
Wes Anderson is back with The Phoenician Scheme, a film promising eccentric family drama and breathtaking visuals. Slated for a limited release on May 30 before expanding on June 6, this Germany-shot spectacle stars Benicio del Toro as a European tycoon, Mia Threapleton as his nun-daughter, and Michael Cera as their tutor, because why not? Add Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Scarlett Johansson, and Benedict Cumberbatch, and you’ve got a cast worth scheming over. Co-written with Roman Coppola, this Focus Features-backed film follows Anderson’s signature themes of grief, dysfunction, and unlikely friendships. Get ready for another meticulously crafted oddball adventure!
Jason Statham’s next action thriller just got a ‘Star Wars’ boost
Jason Statham is gearing up for another high-octane thriller, and this time, he’s bringing Star Wars alums Naomi Ackie and Daniel Mays along for the ride! Directed by Ric Roman Waugh known for Angel Has Fallen, the untitled action film follows Statham as a man confronting his murky past, expect explosions, intense stare-downs, and, of course, well-timed punches. Also starring Bill Nighy and Bodhi Rae Breathnach, the film has just begun shooting in the UK and Ireland, with no release date yet. But let’s be honest, when Statham’s on the roster, action fans already know they’re in for an adrenaline-fueled spectacle!
Sean Bean joins ‘Robin Hood’ as the sheriff of Nottingham- will he survive this time?
Sean Bean is stepping into another iconic role, this time as the Sheriff of Nottingham in MGM+’s upcoming Robin Hood series. Known for his legendary, and often doomed characters like Boromir in The Lord of the Rings and Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, Bean will bring his signature intensity to the cunning lawman, described as a loving father and cousin to King Henry II. Starring Jack Patten as Robin Hood, the 10-episode series is penned by John Glenn known for his work on Seal Team and directed by Jonathan English. No release date yet, but expect plenty of swashbuckling and, hopefully, a Bean character who actually survives!
Matthew Rhys to star in horror comedy ‘Widow’s Bay’ for Apple TV+
Matthew Rhys is swapping legal dramas for supernatural chaos as he steps into the role of a skeptical mayor in Widow’s Bay, a horror comedy series for Apple TV+. Created by Parks and Recreation alum Katie Dippold and directed by Atlanta’s Hiro Murai, the 10-episode series follows an island town plagued by eerie happenings, much to the mayor’s disbelief. Rhys, also an executive producer, joins a packed slate of projects, including Hallow Road with Rosamund Pike and Netflix’s The Beast in Me with Claire Danes. No release date yet, but this cursed town is bound to bring chills and laughs in equal measure!
Barry Kripke returns in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ spin-off on Max
Get ready for some classic Big Bang Theory mischief as Barry Kripke is back. John Ross Bowie will reprise his role as Sheldon’s lisping nemesis in the upcoming spin-off, which reunites him with other fan-favourite side characters like Stuart played by Kevin Sussman, Bert played by Brian Posehn, and Denise played by Lauren Lapkus. While details are under wraps, franchise creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Zak Penn are on board, ensuring the nerdy chaos continues. Following Young Sheldon’s conclusion, this new project keeps the Big Bang universe alive. No release date yet, but expect more Kripke-style torment soon on Max.
James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley join ‘Masters of the Universe’ as He-Man’s parents
Eternia is getting its rulers as James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley step into the roles of King Randor and Queen Marlena in Amazon’s Masters of the Universe movie. Starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, the film is set for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026. Directed by Travis Knight of Bumblebee fame, the movie will bring Mattel’s iconic 1980s toyline to life with a star-studded cast, including Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Jared Leto as Skeletor. Expect high fantasy, epic battles, and He-Man’s long-awaited return to the big screen.
