A prequel novel announced for fan favourite ‘Stranger Things’ character Eddie Munson

One of the breakout stars of the fourth season of Stranger Things was Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson. Fans who were heartbroken with how Eddie’s arc was unceremoniously ended in the hit Netflix series have reason to rejoice. Stranger Things writer Caitlin Schneiderhan has announced a prequel spin-off novel titled Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus. The story will follow Eddie Munson as he meets a producer named Paige who offers to promote his band in LA, and it will be set two years prior to the events of the fourth season. Unsurprisingly, Schneiderhan is also part of the writing team for the fifth and final season due to drop in late 2023 or early 2024.

‘Scream’ actress Melissa Barrera joins the cast of a new monster movie

Directors of the rebooted Scream films Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are set to helm a new monster film for Radio Silence. They have cast Melissa Barrera, who played Samantha Carpenter in Scream, in a pivotal role. Further details regarding the untitled film have been kept under wraps but the word on the street is that Radio Silence has been developing the project for over a year.

'The Piano Lesson' adaptation casts Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington

The hit Broadway play The Piano Lesson, which was revived recently was well-received by critics and audiences. The play’s success has prompted Netflix to acquire the rights for a film adaptation. Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington have joined the cast in lead roles. They will be joined by Zack Snyder's Justice League star Ray Fisher, the awarding-winning lead actress of the biopic Till Danielle Deadwyler, True Detective actor Michael Potts, and Corey Hawkins of Straight Outta Compton fame. The Piano Lesson tells the story of a family in a dilemma about a piano that was carved by one of their enslaved ancestors.

Mia Goth to star in MCU ‘Blade’ reboot

Hollywood’s rising star Mia Goth, who won plaudits for her performances in Pearl and X has been cast in the Marvel reboot of Blade. She will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role which features Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali in the lead. Delroy Lindo, who is best known for his role in the legal drama The Good Fight, and The Underground Railroad star Aaron Pierre are also part of the ensemble. Yann Demange will helm the film about a half-human/half-vampire named Balde who becomes a vampire hunter. The film is expected to release in 2024.

'A League of Their Own' to end with a four-episode second season

The popular Prime Video original series A League of Their Own will not be returning for a full second season. Instead, it will have a four-episode run in order to give the story a fitting conclusion. Created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, the series is a remake of the 1992 film starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna. The plot is set in the 1940s about a woman who leaves her small town to become a professional baseball player, and joins the American Girls Professional Baseball League team the Rockford Peaches.

'Die Hart' Renewed for a third season

The popular comedy series Die Hart starring Kevin Hart has been renewed for a third season. The news comes after the incredible success of the second season which debuted at No.1 on Roku. Hart plays a fictionalised version of himself as an actor attempting to become an action star. The series features a star-studded ensemble of John Travolta, Jean Reno, Josh Hartnett, Ben Schwartz, and Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel. Die Hart is available to stream on Prime Video in India.
