‘Superboys of Malegaon’ premieres at Toronto International Film Festival

Prime Video's highly-anticipated film Superboys of Malegaon is set to make its world premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival/ TIFF on September 13, 2024. Produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, this heartwarming movie features Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora in lead roles. Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, the film is inspired by real events in Maharashtra’s Malegaon, where a local filmmaker, Nasir Shaikh, rallies his friends to produce a Bollywood-style movie with a modest budget and means. This uplifting story celebrates the spirit of filmmaking and friendship and is sure to create waves when it releases theatrically in India, even through the release date in India is yet to be revealed.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ sequel in the works with original cast

A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in development, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci in talks to return, of which Streep is a confirmed cast member. Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the story will focus on Miranda Priestly played by Streep navigating the struggles of running a publishing company and clashing with Blunt’s character, Emily, who will now be seen as a high-powered executive. While no release date is set, more details may emerge at Disney's D23 Expo.

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s 'The Bride' has a new release date

Warner Bros.' The Bride, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, is now set to release on September 26, 2025. This sci-fi horror film is a loose remake of the 1935 classic The Bride of Frankenstein. The plot involves Frankenstein seeking help in 1930s Chicago to create a companion, leading to unexpected consequences. The star-studded cast includes Penélope Cruz, Annette Benning, Peter Sarsgaard, and Julianne Hough. This shift makes September 2025 a big month for horror, alongside the final film in The Conjuring franchise.

Final 'Conjuring' film gets release date

The concluding chapter of The Conjuring franchise, previously titled The Conjuring: Last Rites, is set for release on September 5, 2025. Directed by Michael Chaves and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the film stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson in their final roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren. While the plot remains undisclosed, the movie promises to draw from the Warrens' real-life paranormal investigations. Additionally, a Conjuring TV series is in development, potentially exploring the Warrens' early career.

Robert Pattinson's 'Possession' remake finds studio

Speaking of superhit horror films, Paramount Pictures is acquiring the rights to remake the 1981 horror classic Possession, directed by Parker Finn and produced by Robert Pattinson. Finn, who directed Smile, will produce, write, and direct the film. Pattinson may star in the remake, depending on his schedule, which also includes the sequel to The Batman. The original film, directed by Andrzej Żuławski, explores a disintegrating marriage and supernatural occurrences. Filming dates and cast details are yet to be announced.

Sam Worthington and Gugu Mbatha-Raw lead cast in David Mackenzie's thrilling 'Fuze’

Sam Worthington and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are set to star in Fuze, a gripping heist thriller directed by David Mackenzie. The story centers on the discovery of a WWII bomb in London, triggering a tense evacuation. Alongside them, Theo James and Aaron Taylor-Johnson round off the cast, promising a compelling ensemble.
