Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ adaptation, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash to begin filming in 2024
The highly-anticipated film adaptation of Ramayana helmed by Nitesh Tiwari is set to commence production in February 2024 according to reports. Real-life couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were initially rumoured to play Ram and Sita in the film, however, Bhatt reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Premam and Gargi star Sai Pallavi will now play Sita, while KGF star Yash will essay the role of Raavan. The film is expected to be part of a trilogy of films, but further information about the film has been kept under wraps.
'The Boys in the Boat’ helmed by George Clooney releases first images
It was reported earlier that Hollywood star George Clooney is set to direct a period sports drama based on a true story. Titled, The Boys in the Boat, the film has now released its first teaser images. The film tells the underdog story of the University of Washington rowing team who defied all odds and represented the USA in the controversial 1936 Berlin Olympics. The film is based on Daniel James Brown’s non-fiction novel and stars Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner in lead roles. The Boys in the Boat is slated to release in theatres on December 25.
‘Johnny Puff: Secret Mission' animated film starring Johnny Depp releases first images
Hollywood star Johnny Depp is set to star in a new animated feature film titled 'Johnny Puff: Secret Mission'. Helmed by Nestor F. Dennis, the film will feature characters from the Puffin Rock children’s TV show. The upcoming film will lean towards conveying socially relevant messages such as recycling and the importance of protecting the environment to a younger audience. Johnny Puff: Secret Mission is expected to release in theatres in early 2024.
Aaron Eckhart plays the lead role in the upcoming action thriller 'Rumble Through the Dark'
American actor Aaron Eckhart, who is best known for his nuanced portrayal of Harvey ‘Two Face’ Dent in The Dark Knight, has been cast in a new action thriller. Titled, Rumble Through the Dark, the film features Eckhart essaying the role of a bare-knuckle cage fighter. He is joined by actress and social media influencer Bella Thorne, who plays the role of a carnival hustler. The film is directed by Graham and Parker Phillips, and it is based on Michael Farris Smith’s novel, The Fighter. Rumble Through the Dark will receive a limited theatrical release in the US on November 2nd before releasing on VOD on November 10.
‘Hunting Wives’ TV adaptation greenlit by Starz
The Lionsgate-backed American network Starz recently cancelled four of its original TV shows including Heels and Run the World. However, the network has now announced that it has greenlit an eight-episode series titled, The Hunting Wives. The series is an adaptation of May Cobb’s thriller novel of the same name. The plot revolves around a woman named Sophie O’Neil and her family, who are pulled into a world of obsession, seduction and murder after moving to East Texas and meeting a socialite named Margo Banks. Further details about the upcoming series have been kept under wraps.
Todd Phillips shares new image from 'Joker: Folie à Deux'
The highly-anticipated sequel to Todd Phillips’ award-winning 2019 film Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, has released new images from the film. Titled, Joker: Folie à Deux, the film will feature the return of Phoenix as the ‘Clown Prince of Crime’. Phillips shared an image on the anniversary of the first film showcasing Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck aka Joker drenched in rain. The sequel will be set in the infamous Arkham Asylum, which is an integral part of DC’s Batman mythos. It will explore the toxic relationship and shared madness between Joker and his psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel, who would eventually become his partner in crime Harley Quinn. Singer and actor Lady Gaga will essay the role of Harley Quinn in the film. The first film won two Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Phoenix. Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to release in theatres on October 4, 2024.
