The Flash director Andy Muschietti to helm new Batman reboot
DC’s latest big-budget release, The Flash, has been met with mixed reactions from both critics and audiences. However, DC Films co-head James Gunn appears to be convinced that The Flash director Andy Muschietti can shoulder the responsibility of a major big-budget DC project. A report from Variety claims that Muschietti will be helming the new Batman reboot based on the Brave and the Bold comics. This will be separate from Matt Reeves’ Batman universe starring Robert Pattinson.
The distribution rights for The Hulk reverted to Marvel Studios
Marvel Studios have finally regained the distribution rights of one of its most beloved characters – The Hulk. The rights were previously owned by Universal Studios, and the new development means that the Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton, will finally arrive on Disney+. The streaming service announced that the film will drop on the platform on June 16. This also paves the way for Disney to work on standalone films that will feature Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.
Roald Dahl's 'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar' to be adapted by Wes Anderson
Netflix recently announced that visionary filmmaker Wes Anderson is set to adapt Roald Dahl's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. New reports have emerged that Anderson’s film will only have a runtime of 37 minutes. This is the second Dahl story that Anderson has adapted after the superhit animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox. The film will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes, Rupert Friend, Richard Ayoade, and Ben Kingsley, and is expected to release on Netflix later this year.
Zelda movie was never in development, confirms prod house
There was mounting speculation that the iconic Nintendo franchise Zelda, was being adapted into a film. The franchise which released back-to-back multiple award-winning and record-breaking hits The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and this year’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was expected to be the next project to be undertaken by Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind the recent blockbuster hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie. However, much to the disappointment of Zelda fans, the studio has dismissed reports that they are working on an adaptation. According to a report by The Wrap, the studio’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Meledandri has vehemently denied any knowledge of a Zelda adaptation undertaken by the studio.
Warner Bros plans to mend the relationship with Christopher Nolan
Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros ended their partnership of nearly two decades in 2021 after the filmmaker was reportedly displeased with the way WB handled the release of Tenet during the pandemic lockdown. Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, the Warner Bros. Film Group co-CEOs, have ambitious plans to revamp their strategies for major theatrical releases. A new report indicates that WB are desperate to bring Nolan back to their fold. Meanwhile, we’re awaiting the auteur’s most ambitious film Oppenheimer which is set to release next month.
Disney+ to release remastered shorts of Disney classics
It looks like Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang are about to arrive on Disney+ in high definition. The studio has announced that 28 shorts from yesteryear are set to be remastered or restored and will be released on Disney+ from July 7th. The announcement comes as part of Disney’s celebrations as 2023 marks the centennial year of the media giant.
