Dahaad starring Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma to debut on Prime Video
The highly anticipated crime drama, Dahaad, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma is set to premiere on Prime Video on the 12th of May. Created by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, the TV series follows a determined and feisty Sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati tasked with solving a gruesome murder mystery. The 8-part crime drama series is the first Indian TV series to premiere at The Berlinale International Film Festival.
Twilight TV series in the works at Lionsgate
After Warner Bros Discovery announced a Harry Potter reboot TV series recently, Lionsgate has decided to remake another popular young adult book-to-film adaptation – Stephanie Meyers’ Twilight franchise. The remake will be a TV adaptation with Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig set to serve as executive producers. While the vampire romance failed to garner critical acclaim like Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise, it amassed a massive fan following across the globe.
Rian Johnson’s golf comedy series casts Will Ferrell
Hollywood veteran Will Ferrell is set to play the lead in an upcoming golf-based comedy series. Ferrell will also serve as executive producer alongside Jessica Elbaum and Ram Bergman. The series tells the story of a pro golfer who becomes the marquee signing for a controversial golf league. The plot of the series is reportedly inspired by the controversial LIV Golf startup.
The Good Doctor to return for a seventh season
The popular ABC medical drama The Good Doctor has been renewed for a seventh season. The news comes after the American Network renewed Grey's Anatomy for an incredible 20th season and The Rookie for a sixth season. The Good Doctor follows the story of Dr. Shaun Murphy, played by Freddie Highmore, an ingenious surgeon with autism and savant syndrome.
Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie join the cast of the spy thriller Maude vs Maude
Hollywood stars Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie have been cast in the upcoming spy thriller Maude vs Maude. Warner Bros came out on top after an intense bidding war to acquire the rights for the film, which is described as a "Bond vs. Bourne-type action thriller." The film will be directed by New Zealand filmmaker Roseanne Liang based on a script by Scott Mosier.
Sydney Sweeney to star in a new political thriller
Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney essays the lead role in the biopic titled Reality. The Max original film is based on the true story of a former American intelligence agent, Reality Winner. The film tells the story of how the 25-year-old Winner was charged and convicted of a Federal crime after leaking classified information that Russia had interfered with the 2016 US Presidential election. The film is directed by playwright Tina Satter, who was the first person to transcribe the real conversations between Winner and the FBI for her 2019 play Is This A Room.
Legendary’s MonsterVerse announces the title for its next film
The MonsterVerse, the cinematic universe created by Legendary Pictures for its King Kong and Godzilla films, has revealed the title for its next project. The film will be a direct sequel to the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, and is titled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The title announcement came with a teaser depicting Kong sitting on his throne in Hollow Earth surrounded by skeletal ruins. Adam Wingard will return to helm the sequel with Rebaca Hall reprising her role as Dr. Ilene Andrews, along with Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle. They will be joined by new cast members Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, and Rachel House.
Fast and the Furious 11 announced
It appears the Fast and Furious franchise has no plans of slowing down. The tenth film of the franchise, titled Fast X, is set to hit theatres on the 19th of May, and Universal Pictures has already greenlit an 11th film for the franchise. Louis Leterrier, who replaced Justin Lin as the director of Fast X will return to helm the sequel.
