Welcome to another episode of Sizzling news from the entertainment world. I'm your host Nikhil, top stories first.

Pedro Pascal cast in Ethan Coen's lesbian road-trip comedy

Hollywood star Pedro Pascal has enjoyed great success in recent months with hits such as HBO’s The Last of Us and Disney’s The Mandalorian Season 3. The actor has now been roped in to play a pivotal character in Ethan Cohen’s solo directorial debut Drive-Away Dolls. The plot follows a young woman named Janine, played by Margaret Qualley and her friend Marian, played by Geraldine Viswanathan, who go on a road trip to Tallahassee in a journey of self-discovery. They face several obstacles along the way, including a group of incompetent criminals. Matt Damon, Colman Domingo, and Bill Camp also essay prominent roles in this film.

Twister sequel casts Anthony Ramos

It was recently announced that the 1996 disaster film Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, will receive a sequel. It will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung, who is best known for helming the 2020 award-winning film Minari. Hamilton star Anthony Ramos has been added to the cast alongside Normal People lead star Daisy Edgar-Jones and Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell.

Cruel Summer season 2 announces release date

The highly anticipated second season of the psychological teen drama Cruel Summer is set to release this summer. The first season was a sleeper hit, starring Olivia Holt and Chiara Aurelia in lead roles and exploring themes of love, betrayal, jealousy, and trauma in a suburban town in the 90s. The new season will follow new characters Megan, Luke, and Isabella played by Sadie Stanley, Griffin Gluck, and Eloise Payet respectively. The plot will follow teenagers during the early 2000s, and the series is set to premiere on Prime Video on June 2.

Benedict Cumberbatch cast in new mini-series

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is set to reunite with Tomas Alfredson, his director from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy for a new mini-series. Titled, How to Stop Time, the six-part mini-series is based on Matt Haig’s novel of the same name. The plot is said to be a love story set against the backdrop of a sci-fi fantasy setting where the lead character suffers from a rare disease which causes him to age incredibly slowly. The series will commence production next year in London.

The Rookie renewed for a sixth season

Nathan Fillion’s hit crime drama series The Rookie has been renewed for a sixth season. The news comes after a jump in viewership for the fifth season as the series heads towards its 100th episode. The series also stars Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, and Tru Valentino among others in pivotal roles. It tells the story of a 45-year-old man who decides to become a police officer.

Yellowstone to end with season 5

After weeks of speculation, it appears that Yellowstone will conclude after releasing the second part of the fifth season. Lead star Kevin Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan allegedly had a falling out during the production of the fifth season. It appears Costner will return to complete the fifth season but the series will end with the season five finale. Despite these setbacks, Yellowstone has several spin-offs in the works, in addition to the critically acclaimed spin-offs 1923 and 1883.
