Veer Savarkar biopic embroiled in legal trouble

The biopic on controversial historical figure Veer Savarkar has reportedly landed in a legal tussle over the film’s rights. The film faced criticism when the first teaser featured controversial statements about Mahatma Gandhi. It appears the film has now courted further dispute after the producers Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh claimed that actor-director Randeep Hooda used the film’s footage without permission. Their outrage comes after Hooda claimed that he was the sole owner of the film’s rights.

‘Barbie’ streaming date hinted by David Zaslav

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has revealed that the studio's summer blockbuster hit Barbie will not be released on streaming platforms soon. Ironically, it was the studio’s decision to release Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan’s Tenet on HBO Max on the same day as its theatrical release that led an outraged Nolan to sever ties with WB and signing a deal with Universal Studios for Oppenheimer. However, it appears Zaslav is keen to see Barbie have a long theatrical run, and the film is expected to gross over $1.5 billion. Zaslav also hinted that Barbie will only be released on streaming platforms before the end of the year.
