'Voice of Sathyanathan' starring Dileep postponed

The release of the Malayalam film Voice of Sathyanathan, which was supposed to be the on-screen return of controversial actor Dileep, has been postponed by a week. The film was slated to release on July 14 this weekend, however, the filmmakers have now decided to postpone the release due to torrential rain in Kerala. The comedy-drama features a star-studded ensemble of Joju George, Jude Anthany Joseph, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Veena Nandakumar, along with Jagapathi Babu and Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher. The film will now be released on July 21st.

Remakes of Bollywood classics ‘Bawarchi’, ‘Koshish’, and ‘Mili’ announced

Anushree Mehta and Abir Sengupta of JAADUGAR FILMS are set to collaborate with Sameer Raj Sippy of SRS Productions to remake three Bollywood classics. The ‘70s hits Mili, Koshish and Bawarchi are the films that are currently in development to be remade. Sameer Raj Sippy explained that he wishes to honour the legacy of his grandfather N. C. Sippy, the legendary producer, as well as his father Raj Sippy and uncle Romu Sippy. It was also revealed that the remakes will be reimagined for the modern audience. No casting announcements have been made so far but we’ll keep you posted when we hear of any updates related to these remakes.

The trailer for 'Wonka' revealed

The highly-anticipated trailer for Wonka starring Dune lead star Timothée Chalamet has been released. The film is the latest adaption of the iconic Roald Dahl novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It will serve as a prequel to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder. The trailer also revealed that British actor Hugh Grant will essay the role of Oompa Loompa. Wonka is scheduled to release on  December 15, 2023.

New 'Alita: Battle Angel' film in development, confirms James Cameron

James Cameron released Avatar: The Way Water earlier this year to overwhelming success, shattering global box office records. The filmmaker has also announced several sequels for Avatar, and it appears he has major plans for another franchise as well, which is the 2019 film Alita: Battle Angel. Cameron served as the producer for the Robert Rodriguez directorial starring Rosa Salazar. Cameron has confirmed that sequels to the sci-fi animated film are in the works. But he has hinted that the films will only begin production once the Avatar sequels have been wrapped up.

Early reactions from the Paris premiere of ‘Oppenheimer’ revealed

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is set to go head-to-head with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie next weekend on July 21st. Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, received an early screening at the Paris Premiere and the early reactions are overwhelmingly positive. The Associated Press writer Lindsey Bahr called it “a spectacular achievement”, while the Telegraph film critic Robbie Collins labelled it a total knockout, and Bilge Ebiri of Vulture shared that “OPPENHEIMER is…incredible”. The film is a biopic on Robert J Oppenheimer who is regarded as the father of the atomic bomb.

‘Superman: Legacy’ casts Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific

James Gunn has announced new cast members for his upcoming film Superman: Legacy. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were confirmed as the new Superman and Lois Lane recently, and Gunn has followed up these announcements with new casting news. Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Sicario: Day of the Soldado star Isabela Merced has been cast as Hawkgirl, while Edi Gathegi, who has starred in the medical drama House and the Twilight franchise has been cast as Mr. Terrific. The biggest casting announcement, however, is that of Nathan Fillion, the popular TV star of Firefly, Castle, and Rookie, as Green Lantern. The actor has previously voiced the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern in DC animated films and has been the fans’ pick to play the character in live-action for several years. However, he will be playing the Guy Gardner version of Green Lantern and not Hal Jordan. Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.
