Sky Force Box Office Day: Akshay Kumar’s speed of working is not new to fans and the Hindi cinema audience. The star has one of the longest filmographies post-COVID-19, having done close to ten movies. However, his box office mojo was not as strong as before, with most films struggling to break even. This drought lasted two years, ending this week with Sky Force. The Veer Pahariya co-starrer is now Kumar's second-highest earner post-pandemic.

It is indeed interesting to see how well Sky Force has performed even when the movie had some competition with Emergency and Azaad still in the big screen. It managed to make way for itself and fade the two release even when both of them had big stars involved. Turns out the movie by the end of week one, which is today has managed to earn a sum that is not just big but is the second highest collection in Akshay Kumar’s post pandemic filmography.

On day 7 (first Thursday) and minted Rs 5.50 crores which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 86.50 crores as per Sacnilk. With this Sky Force has indeed become the second highest earning Akshay Kumar movie after the world returned to normalcy post the pandemic. The first is of course Rohit Shetty’s Sooryanvanshi. It will be interesting to see what new records the movie manages to make.

Akshay Kumar’s Box Office Run Revived

Since the pandemic, Akshay Kumar has released over ten movies, including Sarfira, Sooryavanshi, Khel Khel Mein, Singham Again, Bachchhan Pandey, and Bell Bottom. However, apart from a couple, most films failed to make an impact. Now, with Sky Force, he has finally regained some momentum. The film opened with over ₹70 crore and became his third-biggest post-pandemic opener.

The only two films ahead of Sky Force are Sooryavanshi (₹26.29 crore on day one) and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (₹16.07 crore). Sky Force opened at ₹15.3 crore but has maintained a steady box office run, unlike Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which declined rapidly.

Sky Force (150K) surpassed the pre-sales of Akshay Kumar’s last five films, including OMG 2 (90K), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (65K), Khel Khel Mein (29K), Mission Raniganj (11K), and Sarfira (10K).

Sky Force was released on January 24, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates from the world of streaming and films.
