In Sky Force, a deadly surprise attack hits India during the 1965 Indo-Pak War. The retaliatory strike is led by Wing Commander Ahuja, while Squadron Leader Vijaya heroically engages a superior enemy fighter on his own and then mysteriously disappears. In the end, Ahuja manages to get posthumous acknowledgement for Vijaya's courage and sacrifice after spending 23 years trying to find the truth and discovering a cover-up.
Produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films, the film hit the big screens on January 24, 2025, right in the middle of Republic Day weekend. It did poorly at the box office despite receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.
According to Pinkvilla, the film's collections took a nosedive on Monday following a solid opening weekend thanks to significantly decreased ticket costs. The film's worldwide gross was expected to be between ₹144 and ₹168.60 crore when it ended its run.
In the wake of trade analyst Komal Nahta's accusations that the makers of Sky Force blocked bookings in an effort to fraudulently boost the movie's box-office results, the film's collection has been scrutinised.
Sandeep Kewlani rejected the accusations against both Maddock films in an interview with News18. He said that a film's collection, he argued, doesn't matter when it comes to the big film. Regarding Chhaava and Sky Force, he maintained that their collections are organic and that no block bookings had occurred. Everyone in the crowd loved it. Even now, 20 days after the film's premiere, Kewlani continued to receive daily messages on social media platforms from fans who have adored the film. Once the film is finished and released to the public, their job is done.
He added that people won't recall a film's box office take for very long. The collection of the film is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. What matters is the film's impact and how long it remains in their minds.
