Snow White OTT release date in India: Here's when and where you can stream Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot's live-action film

The OTT release in India of Disney's live-action Snow White is in the works, following the film's theatrical release earlier this year. Starting June 11, 2025, the movie will be available to stream on JioHotstar.

Contemporary take on the 1937 classic

Marc Webb's vision of the 1937 Disney animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is brought to life in this contemporary remake, which stars Rachel Zegler as the titular character and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The most recent rendition introduces new features while maintaining beloved characters like Doc, Grumpy, and Dopey, among others. A renegade bandit named Jonathan, portrayed by Andrew Burnap, is introduced to the plot as a new character who accompanies Snow White on her quest.

With an estimated budget of $240–270 million, the film is one of Disney’s most expensive live-action offerings to date; it released in theatres throughout the world earlier this year. Several industry analysts dubbed it a box office bomb because it failed to meet predictions and earned around $205.5 million worldwide.

Controversies surrounding production and cast

Since the beginning of production, the film has been engulfed in controversy. Partisanship flared out in response to Rachel Zegler's public remarks regarding the original film, her political beliefs, and the criticism of the Seven Dwarfs' portrayal and casting. Both liberals and conservatives took to the internet to voice their disapproval of the film because of the leading actors' diametrically opposed political views on international affairs.

Disney is targeting a wider audience in the Indian market with its JioHotstar streaming release; the company's live-action films have done well on OTT platforms in the past. The film's original language is English, but dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi will be streamed during the OTT release.
