Software Blues is a comedy entertainer starring Shreeram Nimmala and Bhawna in the lead roles. Aryaman, Mahboob Basha, KS Raju, Jabardast Ganapati play supporting roles in the film. Produced and directed by Uma Shankar under his home banner Silver Pixel Media Works, the film released in theatres on June 24, 2022. The film premiered on OTT this weekend.
Noted Telugu OTT platform aha acquired the post-theatrical rights of the entertainer and began streaming it on March 31, nearly a year after its release. The story revolves around an ambitious go-getter who feigns a good-looking girl with a dream to head to the US. It is a journey through his trials and tribulations to win over her love. It is also a satire on the lives of software engineers.
Baswaraj, Haneesh, Subba Naidu, Nidhin and Shiva essay other key roles in the rom-com. Nimma Gopi cranked the camera for the film while Subhash Anand scored the music. VK Raju is the editor. Several reviews called Software Blues a light-hearted, fun-filled journey tracing the highs and lows of life in the corporate sector and praised the performances and humour quotient in the film.
Shreeram Nimmala and Bhawna received applause for their looks and how they carried their roles. Mahboob Basha, Swami and Obul’s comic timing were appreciated. Producer and director Uma Shankar stated the film is a product of his own experiences in the corporate sector and gave his spin to the story with humour.
While the film struggled to make noise in the theatres, it remains to be seen if it strikes a chord with audiences on the streamer. The fact that it doesn’t star any heavyweights will certainly help streaming enthusiasts watch it with an open mind.
