Actor, producer, politician Mohan Babu and his son Vishnu Manchu, who hit the headlines recently for the controversies around MAA elections, are back in the news for the right reasons. Mohan Babu's upcoming film Son of India, a political drama, directed by Diamond Ratna Babu and produced by Vishnu Manchu, is gearing up for a theatrical release at last. The long-delayed film, that has been in the making for long, will arrive in theatres across Telugu states on February 18, the makers announced today.
The film has an impressive star cast also comprising Srikanth, Pragya Jaiswal, Tanikella Bharani, Ali, Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi Raj, Raghu Babu, Raja Ravindra, Ravi Prakash. Veteran writer Thotapalli Sainath, known for films like Sirivennela, Swathimuthyam in the past, has penned the dialogues for Son of India. Ilaiyaraaja is scoring the music for the project. The technical crew includes Sarvesh Murari as the cinematographer, well-known editor Gautham Raju besides Chinna (as the art director).
Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and 24 Frames Factory are jointly producing Son of India (which was also the title of a Hindi film helmed by Mehmood in 1962). The film's teaser, which had a voice over by Chiranjeevi, earned over 3 million views on Youtube and showcased Mohan Babu in a gamut of avatars. The director Diamond Ratna Babu had also helmed Mohan Babu's drama Gayathri (which featured him along with Vishnu Manchu, Shriya Saran). The veteran was seen in Suriya's OTT hit Soorarai Pottru recently and is playing a key role in Samantha's period drama Shaakuntalam too.
