Sonakshi Sinha: It was liberating to do a full-blown web series

Sonakshi Sinha is currently gearing up for the release of Bhuj: The Pride of India which marks her OTT debut. The film's release on Disney+ Hotstar was announced a year back during the coronavirus lockdown. Now, it will finally stream in August. Along with this, Sonakshi is making her full-fledged OTT debut in a web series directed by Reema Kagti. The series will drop on Amazon Prime Video soon. 

During a recent interaction with The Times of India, Sonakshi spoke about featuring in a digital outing. She said, "It was liberating to do a full-blown web series in which I have a great role. I didn’t leave it because anyone would have grabbed it."

The actor shared that she wanted to work with Reema shooting the series was like an extended film with two directors. Talking about getting directed by two directors, Sonakshi said that both of them have different styles yet they were always on the same page. 

About getting into the OTT space as an actor, the Rowdy Rathore actor was all praises and shared that the actors who didn't get their due credit will get it on the digital platform. 

Sonakshi said, "There is so much work in this space for everyone that there’s no need to feel bogged down by competition. If anything, one should feel happy that actors who didn’t get their due are getting it now."

The actor also said that the playing field has expanded now and every kind of role is being written and people are also working on such varied content.

Sonakshi's web series with Reema is yet to be titled and the first look was unveiled on International Women's Day this year.

Talking about Bhuj: The Pride of India, the film also features Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk, Pranitha Subhash and Ihana Dhillon.
