Crypto Man, the new film starring the late Song Jae-rim, has revealed both its release date and a new poster. The film explores the world of startup investments, day trading stocks, and lucrative cryptocurrency schemes, drawing inspiration from the true story of the global cryptocurrency crisis. So Hee-jung, Cha Jung-won, Song Jae-rim, Min Sung-wook, and An Woo-yeon are the stars of the film.
Song Jae-rim portrays Yang Do Hyun, the protagonist and self-styled business whiz behind the creation of the "MOMMY" virtual money. Given that Crypto Man is based on a real-life incident that has resulted in numerous victims and is currently awaiting a final court decision, the film underwent extensive legal assessment and consultation, drawing from extensive investigations and court cases.
Hyun Hae Ri, whose previous work includes the critically acclaimed Cannes International Drama Festival winner Nine Times Fired, is at the helm. The filmmaker aims to present the story as realistically and sharply as possible while incorporating elements of dark comedy, referring to her socially concerned documentaries.
Crypto Man, Song Jae-rim's final film, will hit theatres on January 15, 2025, following his death in November.
The Seongdong Police Station discovered Song Jae-rim's body at his flat in Seoul's Seongdong District on November 12. They also allegedly discovered a two-page letter there. The cause of his passing is still unknown, but according to a police spokesman, at this point in the investigation, there are no signs of foul play.
Song Jae-rim, who was born in 1985, first appeared in the film Actresses in 2009 and became famous for his performance in the 2012 drama The Moon Embracing the Sun. After this, he was a regular in dramas including Two Weeks, Unkind Ladies, and, most recently, Queen Woo.
