Ivan Ayr’s Milestone To Premiere on Netflix on May 7

Soni director Ivan Ayr’s Milestone will premiere globally on Netflix on May 7. Netflix has continually delighted its users by introducing films and shows that have proved to be captivating. The latest addition to this list is Milestone, a drama film about a truck driver who is coping with personal loss.

Discussing what makes Milestone a journey that mirrors the struggles of modern-day, Ivan Ayr shared that the film is the depiction of an individual’s struggle to find relevance.

Revealing the intention behind choosing Ghalib, a seasoned truck driver, to be at the centre of this film, Ayr stated that he always found something peculiar in the nature of the occupation. According to Ayr, a truck driver’s job poses many contradictions - they are mobile, but they are unable to leave the confines of their truck. This is also a reflection of modern life, where Ghalib is struggling to keep his job in a cut-throat capitalist system. Ayr also observed that in current times, everyone is a prisoner of their own perspective which leads to detachment from the world.

Milestone stars Suvinder Vicky as Ghalib and highlights painful aspects of the cycle of life through his journey, which proves that covering physical distances does not equate to reaching a destination in life. Director Ivan Ayr’s beginnings for Milestone were humble, with only him and his producer scouting locations. The film however, was ambitious from the start, stated Ayr. Selected for two film festivals in the world - both Venice and Busan - Milestone was awarded the top prize at the 31st Singapore International Film Festival. Actor Suvinder Vicky also won the Best Performance award for his portrayal of Ghalib.

According to Ayr, Milestone features a meditative narrative which immerses the viewers in the film completely and allows the audience to look into the character of Ghalib to feel the extent of his deep-seated fears of the unexpected changes of life.

Milestone will be available for streaming on Netflix from May 7. Produced by Kimsi Singh, the events of Milestone are tied together as the movie comes to a close when Ghalib sets a record at his company.
