Days after its release, Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj saw a dip in its box office collection on Monday. Amid its lukewarm response, another co-actor Sonu Sood said a lot of hard work has gone into making the film. The film that also features Sanjay Dutt and Manushi Chillar was released on June 3. Directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the historical action film has reportedly not been doing expected business at the ticketing windows.
However, this is the first venture between Sonu and the Yash Raj Films. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, the actor said, “There was a time when I used to get offers only for negative characters. This has changed. Now I only get offers of positive characters.” Sonu will soon start shooting for his film, Fateh.
Sonu is well known for his philanthropic activities. His relentless work during the pandemic was lauded by all. Talking about his work, the actor said, “I have worked in approximately 90 films in multiple languages. But there is nothing like helping people in need. Many people talk about helping but in reality, do little. I want many people like me to come forward and help. If I don’t act anymore, one day people will forget me. But these works will remain.” Sonu is currently busy establishing a school in Jharkhand, an old age home and orphanage in Shirdi. He has a plan to open a hospital with 70-80 beds in Mumbai.
Sonu has a team that is spread all over India. “Besides, my son takes care of the social media requests. He discusses those matters with me. I am proud that my work has inspired him too. In the last two years, I realised that there is a life beyond the glitz and glamour of the film industry,” he said in the interview.
