Ever since actor Soori made his debut as lead actor with Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai, there has been no turning back for the actor. Even as he started out as a comedian, the period drama made Soori prove his mettle in acting, as he went on to star in critically acclaimed films like Kottukkaali. Now, Soori is gearing up for a new film, the title of which was unveiled on Friday. The film is called Mandaadi. It will be directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi.
Soori, who was last seen in Viduthalai: Part 2, directed by Vetrimaaran, has announced his next. The film is titled Mandaadi, the makers announced while revealing the title look poster of the film. The first look will be unveiled on Saturday. The film will be directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, a former assistant of Vetrimaaran and director of the 2022 Tamil film Selfie.
The first-look poster features a boat in the middle of the sea with a sail that is on fire. The technical crew consists of music by GV Prakash Kumar, who has starred in Selfie, with SR Kathir cranking the camera. Editor Pradeep E Ragav and art director DRK Kiran are also part of the film. Vetrimaaran will be the creative producer of the film, which is backed by Elred Kumar.
Soori made his debut as Viduthalai: Part 1, helmed by Vetrimaaran, and resumed his role as constable Kumaresan. The duology is available for streaming on ZEE5. Soori was also part of the critically acclaimed film Kottukkaali, which co-stars Anna Ben and is directed by PS Vinothraj. The film, which earned a big name at international film festival circuits, is produced by Sivakarthikeyan and is streaming on Aha Tamil.
Meanwhile, Soori’s next film Maaman is set to release on May 16.
