In exciting news for people in Maharashtra, CMO released a statement regarding the reopening of theatres on October 22, 2021. The statement read as "Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that cinemas and theatres in the state will be allowed to open after October 22 in compliance with health norms." Soon after the declaration, reports started making the rounds regarding Sooryavanshi release date as filmmaker Rohit Shetty met up with the Maharashtra CM.

Now, it's confirmed that the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi is finally getting a festive release date during Diwali this year. Rohit took to his Instagram page and shared a photo with Thackeray and wrote, "Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE… @akshaykumar @ajaydevgn @ranveersingh @katrinakaif @reliance.entertainment @dharmamovies @tseries.official #capeofgoodfilms."

While Akshay posted a candid click with Rohit, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer on the sets of Sooryavanshi and wrote, "So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi - AA RAHI HAI POLICE #Sooryavanshi #Diwali2021."

Sooryavanshi also features Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Vivan Bhatena, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Javed Jaffrey in supporting roles. While Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh feature in extended cameos reprising their roles from Singham and Simmba respectively.

Sooryavanshi marks the first outing of Rohit with Akshay and Katrina on the big screen. Moreover, the cop drama also reunites the lead actors after a decade. 

The release of the film has been awaited for more than a year now. Sooryavanshi was set to hit the screens in March 2020, but due to the coronavirus lockdown, the film got postponed indefinitely.

Then the makers announced that the film will hit the big screens on April 30, 2021, however, due to the second wave of the pandemic, it again got postponed.

Now, finally, Sooryavanshi will witness the broad daylight much to the excitement of the fans as it's set to entertain the masses in Diwali this year.
