Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner will be returning to the HBO family as she joins the ensemble cast of the upcoming HBO show, The Staircase. The actress will be sharing the screen with Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Juliette Binoche, Rosemarie DeWitt and Parker Posey.

The true-crime limited episode series from the streamer is based on the acclaimed docuseries by the same name. The true-crime show will be centred around American novelist Michael Peterson, with Firth taking up the role of the novelist. The story revolves around the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson played by Collette, a corporate executive and their family.

Turner has been cast to play the role of Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adopted daughter who believes in his innocence, as reported by Deadline.

As per the reports by Collider, The Staircase will be an eight-episode series, helmed by The Devil All the Time fame director Antonio Campos. Not just penning the script, Campos will also take on the role of showrunner along with Maggie Cohn, famous for her work on American Crime Story.

Fans are excited to get a glimpse of Turner who hasn't been seen in a while, especially in any series after Game of Thrones. Continuing her association with HBO Max, the actor has also been roped in for another project with the streaming platform, the satirical animated series The Prince where Turner will be seen giving her voiceover for a major character.
