Sorgavaasal out on OTT: RJ Balaji's prison drama is said to be inspired from the events that took place in Madras Central Prison during the 90s

Sorgavaasal, the recently released Tamil film starring actor-director RJ Balaji in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Netflix. The Tamil film is also available in Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu audios, with English subtitles.
Sorgavaasal which released in theatres in November, has made its OTT debut recently on Netflix. The film is available to stream in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam along with English subtitles. The prison-set action-drama stars actor and director RJ Balaji in the lead role, and is directed by Siddharth Vishwanath in his debut.
Inspired from the events that took place during the 90s at Madras Central Prison and gangster Boxer Vadivelu’s death, the film revolves around an eatery outlet owner who gets blamed wrongly for a murder and ends up in prison. With the jail having its own ruthless rules and regulations, it is up to the man to decide if he wants to become the king of hell or a servant in heaven.
A former assistant of Pa Ranjith, Siddharth wrote Sorgavaasal along with Thamizh Praba, and Ashwin Ravichandran. Others part of the technical crew consists of Prince Anderson as the cinematographer and Christo Xavier scoring the music. Selva RK is the editor.
Apart from RJ Balaji, the cast of Sorgavaasal includes Selvaraghavan, Natty, Karunaas, Saniya Iyappan, Sharaf-U-Dheen, Hakkim Shah, Balaji Sakthivel, Anthonythasan, Ravi Raghavendra, and Samuel Robinson. Selvaraghavan plays a gangster inspired from Boxer Vadivelu’s character, with Karunas playing jail superintend. Sorgavaasal opened to decent reception and reviews upon its release. The film features RJ Balaji in an action avatar.
