The suspense thriller genre gets a fresh update with the announcement of Speak No Evil receiving another adaptation. Starring James McAvoy of X-Men fame, the film became a highly anticipated addition for horror fans, sparking curiosity. After completing its theatrical run over the past months, the movie is finally set to stream in India. Here’s everything you need to know.
The official synopsis reveals: After befriending a British couple with a mute son, Americans Ben and Louise accept an unusual invitation to bring their daughter for a weekend at a picturesque country estate. But when they uncover their hosts' sinister motives, Ben and Louise fear their family is entangled in a disturbing plot. Featuring a gripping performance by James McAvoy (Split, Glass) as a charismatic man concealing unspeakable darkness, this dream getaway morphs into a chilling nightmare in a shocking thriller from Blumhouse, the producers of The Black Phone.
The film is set to premiere on JioCinema in India on January 13, 2025. There’s no confirmation yet on whether the movie will release solely in Hindi or include dubs in additional Indian languages. Subscribers can also watch it via OTTplay Premium once it’s available on JioCinema.
The cast includes James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Aisling Franciosi, Alix West Lefler, Scoot McNairy, and Dan Hough. Directed by James Watkins, the movie earned praise for its stellar performances despite mixed reviews. Critics unanimously lauded the acting.
“I don’t mind revisiting familiar roles,” McAvoy told The Hollywood Reporter. “Honestly, most actors end up playing similar types throughout their careers. Many are phenomenal performers, but they rarely get to step outside their established tone or style. If I have to play similar roles to tell unique, compelling stories, I’m okay with that.”
