Kristen Stewart has been the recipient of widespread praise ever since she nailed the role of Princess Diana in the new biographical drama, Spencer. The actress seems to have developed a deep bond with her character and developed a love for the late princess that went beyond playing a part.

In conversation with Deadline, Stewart revealed that she had taken up the role because of her love for the late princess and that playing her felt very natural for the actress.

Stewart also talked of how Diana’s relatability and down to earth personality had made her so popular. It was the first time the general public could identify with a figure from the Royal family. “She provided a dream that just felt real”, said Stewart.

Director Pablo Larraín also talked about how he felt Diana was able to rediscover her lost identity only after she decided to walk away from her marriage to Charles and cut ties with the Royal Family.

Spencer tells the story of the last days of Diana’s rocky marriage to Charles, and the events that led to her decision to walk away from the Royal Family. The film takes place over the course of three days, when the couple are asked to spend Christmas at the Queen’s estate in Norfolk.
