Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland's sixth outing as the masked vigilante, has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. It is the first pandemic-era film to achieve this feat.
Collider writes that this film is Columbia Pictures second highest-grossing film of all time, while the first one is Spider-Man: Far From Home ($1.13 billion).
No Way Home, which also stars Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch, has currently earned $1.05 billion out of which $467.3 million is just from North America and $587.1 million from international territories.
BBC writes that the film has beat Chinese epic war movie The Battle of Lake Changjin ($905 million) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Its box office earnings have reached this point in spite of not being released in China, the largest cinema market in the world.
Directed by Jon Watts, No Way Home is set after the events of Far From Home. This instalment shows how Peter Parker seeks the help of Dr Strange in order to restore his life and undo the problems created by the Mysterio.
It is a Sony and Marvel collaboration after both companies decided to share the film rights of the character in 2015.
