Splitsville for rapper-composer Chandan Shetty and Niveditha Gowda; part legally on mutual terms

Early on June 7, social media was abuzz with rumours that popular Kannada rapper and music composer Chandan Shetty and his wife, Niveditha Gowda, were getting divorced. The news evoked mixed reactions from netizens, with some wondering if it was some publicity stunt that the duo had pulled. But a little while ago, Chandan took to social media to clarify that the news was indeed true. It is splitsville for the couple who had met in the Bigg Boss Kannada house in Season 5 after four years of married life.

He wrote, “This day, we, Niveditha Gowda and myself have ended our marriage legally on good terms and mutual understanding.” He requested fans to respect their privacy at this time and added that although they were going their separate ways, they still care and respect each other.

Reports suggest that Chandan and Niveditha have started divorce proceedings in a family court in Bengaluru and are currently in mediation. Their divorce petition has been accepted by the court.

Chandan and Niveditha were contestants of Bigg Boss Kannada 5 in 2017, where she was the youngest contestant and one of the most trolled ones for her inability to speak fluent Kannada. Even host Sudeep had wondered why she could not speak the language well despite having been born and brought up in a Kannada household.

And yet, sparks flew between Chandan and Niveditha, who got married three years later. While Chandan’s career as a musician is going great, he is also set to make baby steps in Kannada cinema, while Niveditha has found a foothold in TV, and has been a part of several popular reality shows. Her Kannada, of course, has improved by miles over the years.
