The trailer of the upcoming Telugu film Spy was released on Thursday. Starring Nikhil Siddharth and Iswarya Menon in the lead roles, the film claims to challenge everything we know about history. If you claim you know something, the filmmakers probably would not agree.

It seems "you know nothing" is one of the big themes of the spy thriller. The trailer opens with a voice telling us, "History would never tell us the truth." And this film is about searching for one such truth that has been buried somewhere in the cabinet files that are gathering dust in an old government building.

Judging from the trailer, the central theme of Spy is the mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. As an iconic freedom fighter and the founder of the Indian National Army, Bose remains an enduring symbol of India's struggle against British rule. His vanishing in August 1945 has been shrouded in controversy for decades. The Indian government, since gaining independence, has conducted numerous inquiries into the events surrounding Netaji's disappearance. The prevailing belief is that Netaji died in a plane crash in Taiwan on August 18, 1945, and his ashes are preserved at Renkoji Temple in Tokyo. However, investigations continued until 2006.

Following a sustained campaign spearheaded by the Netaji family, the Central and the West Bengal governments declassified all the files related to Netaji. And it's unclear whether this movie has shed light on the new information about what happened to Netaji. However, even after more than 75 years, Netaji's family wait for closure.

And it's safe to assume that Spy seems to have taken inspiration from the recently declassified files of Netaji. And the trailer made a grand claim of revealing "India's biggest secret." Whether the film lives up to this promise or not can only be determined with time.

Spy is helmed by Garry BH, who has also edited the movie. Going by the trailer, Nikhil has essayed the role of a dynamic spy, who goes in search of the truth behind the "disappearance" of his brother Subhas and the "Netaji files" also play a critical role in a coveted mission to catch a high-profile criminal.

Spy is due in cinemas on June 29.
