Squid Game 2 might be actress Lee Joo-shil's last ever project, or she might appear in Squid Game 3

Veteran Korean actor Lee Joo-shil is no more. The 80-year-old passed away on February 2 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Joo-shil was suffering from stomach cancer and Squid Game season 2 is likely to be her last on-screen appearance.
Veteran actor Lee Joo-shil's agency has confirmed that she died in the early hours of Sunday, February 2. She had been battling stomach cancer and reports suggest she succumbed to it. Joo-shil's health declined three months back, her agency confirmed. Back in 1993, she was detected with but cured of stage 3 breast cancer.

Lee Joo-shil played the role of Wi Ha-joon's mother in Squid Game 2. She was heard asking about his brother, who it turns out is the Frontman in Squid Game. Whether Lee Joo-shil is also a part of the upcoming Squid Game 3 remains uncertain at this point (since both seasons were shot together).
Joo-shil made her debut as a stage actress in 1965, but gained fame in the 70s and 80s through plays like Macbeth and Death of a Salesman. The actress was also a part of Gong Yoo's Train to Busan. Her dramas include Ahn Hyo-seop's A Time Called You, Cho Seung-woo's Divorce Attorney Shin, Park Hyun-sik's Happiness, Ra Mi-ran's The Good Bad Mother and Jo Byeong-kyu's The Uncanny Counter.
The actress' funeral will be held in Seoul on February 5. Rest in peace, Lee Joo-shil.
