Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the director of Squid Game, says he is hard at work on ideas for the upcoming season of the South Korean killer survival thriller. According to deadline.com, the show's creator told us on the red carpet at Saturday's Producers Guild of America Awards ceremony that there is nothing to see just yet, but that he is hard at work on concepts for the next season of the South Korean killer survival thriller.
Dong-Hyuk remarked that all he could say was that there would be more fantastic games. He is still collecting and brainstorming ideas for Season 2. The director hasn't even begun the writing process.
When asked if there would be any flashbacks, he said yes. Are those Season 1 characters permanently gone, and might we expect to see some of the cast members return in some capacity? Hwang joked that none, since the majority of them are dead. He will see what he can do to get them back for Season 2.
Hwang went on to say that let's suppose she has a twin sister; one will see. He said it while gesturing to HoYeon Jung, who plays Kang Sae-byeok in Squid Game Season 1.
HoYeon chuckled and added that she could change the colour of her hair and let's pretend they were doing plastic surgery.
When asked if he was shocked by the show's overwhelming success, Hwang replied that he was not surprised at all. In a way, yes, since who could have predicted such success? He worked really hard to put on a wonderful event, but he never anticipated it being as successful as it was. It was unexpected.
