The highly popular Netflix series Squid Game will return for a third and final season on June 27, 2025. Soon after Season 2 was released, an announcement was made revealing that the series will end with a last showdown between Lee Jung-jae's Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun's Front Man.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, who is also the show's director, writer, and executive producer, wrote an open letter to fans in which he announced the premiere date of Season 2 and revealed details about Season 3, the last season. Season 3, premiering next year, will continue the violent conflict between [Gi-hun and Front Man's] two realms all the way to the series end.
After a failed uprising, the loss of a close friend, and a betrayal put Gi-hun at rock bottom in Season 2, the events of Season 3 begin. Despite everything, the harsh Squid Game tournament continues. As the danger escalates, Gi-hun and the other players are forced to make more difficult decisions that carry more severe consequences.
Front Man, meantime, is getting ready to welcome some unknown VIPs and has taken control of the game again. Detective Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), unaware of the traitor's presence, continues his pursuit of the mysterious island where the games take place.
Actors Lee Jung-jae (Player 456), Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), and Wi Ha-jun (Hwang Jun-ho) will all be returning for the next season. In addition to them, we have Yim Si-wan (Player 333), Kang Ha-neul (Player 388), Park Sung-hoon (Player 120), and Yang Dong-geun (Player 007) as Myung-gi, Dae-ho, Hyun-ju, and Yong-sik, respectively. The following actors have recently joined the cast: Kang Ae-sim (149), Jo Yuri (222), Lee David (125), Roh Jae-won (124), and Park Gyu-young (No-eul, the pink guard).

As allies are formed and the stakes are raised, the season teaser suggests that tensions will be high. Following the failed revolution, we witness Gi-hun recuperating, while players return to their perilous games, apprehensive of VIP meddling.
A rebellion led by Gi-hun almost reached the arena control centre in the season 2 finale. But the traitor Front Man (really Player 001) betrayed him and put an end to the rebellion. The murder of Gi-hun's best buddy, Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), at the end of the betrayal is an event that continues to trouble the protagonist.
"I don't think he knows yet," Lee Jung-jae pondered on his character's attitude. It seems like he's taking full responsibility for everything that transpired.
Fans of the Squid Game series can look forward to a thrilling climax when Season 3 of the show comes on Netflix on June 27, 2025, with the promise of finally resolving all outstanding disputes.
