About O Yeong-su's criminal case

O Yeong-su, who rose to fame as the wise old man in Squid Game, was accused of molestation and sexual misconduct in 2022. The incident occurred in 2017, and the initial report was filed in 2021 but did not proceed. However, in 2022, the victim objected and filed a case against the accused for touching her inappropriately. The accusations included a forceful hug and a kiss on the cheek without the victim’s consent during a hiking tour.

In the February criminal trial, the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors demanded a jail term of up to 1 year for the accused, along with conditions that stopped him from working with children and minors.

O Yeong-su had denied the accusations, saying, “It’s so painful and hard to stand in this court at this age like this. It is miserable that the last chapter of my life will end in such a way, making my whole life fall apart. I ask you to make a wise ruling.”

Meanwhile, Squid Game is gearing up for its second season, and an intriguing teaser clip was shared by Netflix as part of its 2024 Korean dramas lineup.
