Bratya Basu's plays are coming to the celluloid. Several films were made from well-known plays so far. Last year, Anirban Bhattacharya made Ballabhpurer Roopkotha. Now it is being heard that Bratya Basu's two plays are coming on screen. Srijit Mukherjee is thinking of making a film based on Winkle Twinkle. Rajorshee De wants to adapt the drama Hemlat: The Prince of Garanhata into a film.

What is Bratya Basu's reaction? He said in an interview, “Plays have been previously adapted. This is not new. I will be happy if my plays are made into films. Both Srijit and Rajarshi came to me with the offers. I adore them, and consented happily.”

Srijit has been discussing with Bratya regarding Winkle Twinkle for the last six months. The film's name is set to be Rip Van Winkle. Padmanabha Dasgupta will write the screenplay. Initially, Anirban Bhattacharya and Ritwik Chakraborty's names were heard as the protagonists. Anirban will play the father's role, played by Deb Shankar Halder on stage, and Ritwik will play the son's role, played by Rajatava Datta on stage. However, Prasenjit's name is also being heard.

On the other hand, Koushik Ganguly, Mithila, and Sudipta Chakraborty are supposed to play pivotal roles in the film adaptation of Hemlat.

It is heard that there are still some complications regarding the adaptations. The shooting will start once they are sorted.
