Srijit of Feluda’s success: We want to improve further by taking into account the pertinent and valid criticism

Ever since its release, Srijit Mukherji’s Feludar Goyendagiri has been a much-talked-about show on Hoichoi. While some Feluda fans have panned the show, others have lauded it for evoking nostalgia. The first season of the show is based on Satyajit Ray’s Darjeeling Jawmjawmat and it features Tota Roy Chowdhury as Feluda, Anirban Chakrabarti as Jatayu and Kalpan Mitra as Topshe. The film also features Rahul Banerjee, Barun Chanda, Subrat Dutta and Shaheb Bhattacharjee among others. 

Talking about success, Srijit said that Feluda has always been special to him as it brings back the nostalgia of his childhood. “It brings back the memories of my father, and the innocence I lost,” said the director. While talking about his introduction to Feluda, he recalled that he was just 15 years old when he used to buy Felda books. Even during the shooting, his journey was an emotional ride, he explained. It is because of the personal connection with the show, Srijit said that the response has been overwhelming for him after the launch of the show. “We want to strengthen our resolve to improve further by taking into account the pertinent and valid criticism that we have received,” the director said.

Meanwhile, Hoichoi too has been overwhelmed with the success of Feluda. Soumya Mukherjee, COO of Hoichoi, said that the platform understands and appreciates the emotional connection of Feluda with the audience. “Hence, this record-breaking viewing of Feludar Goyendagiri is not surprising to us,” he said, adding that they knew that the show would draw every Bengali’s eyeball across the globe, especially because it involves Srijit, Tota, and others. “Hoichoi is glad that it could bring a show that resonated with its audience so well,” Soumya said. 

Earlier, Srijit’s Chhinnamastar Abhishap was released on Addatimes as part of Feluda Ferot. The second season which is based on Jawto Kando Kathmandute will soon be dropped on the platform.
