Srinagara Kitty’s comeback as solo hero, Gowli, locks release date; trailer out on February 16

Srinagara Kitty has not had a solo release in almost a decade; his Paru Wife of Devadas, Bahuparak and Namaste Madam all came out in 2014. While he was seen in 2017’s Siliconn City with Suraj Gowda, he was missing in action for a long time, until, he resurfaced with Sharan’s Avatara Purusha part 1, in which he Kitty played a pivotal role and Siddharth Mahesh’s long-pending Garuda. While Kitty is expected to have a bigger role in Avatara Purusha part 2, it is still a Sharan film, so, in that sense, his next as leading man is the upcoming Gowli, an intense action drama about the Gowli community.

Gowli, directed by debutant Soora S, is a film that explores the living conditions of members of the Gowli tribe, who are known as cattle herding pastoral people. The first image of Kitty’s look from the film and the teaser had grabbed eyeballs, given the actor’s salt-and-pepper long-haired and bearded intense avatar. The teaser was also quite action-packed, with a lot of violence and bloodshed, which is interesting, given that Gowli literally means milkman. However, according to director Soora, Kitty was at first reluctant to work with a newcomer, relenting quickly, though, after hearing the script. Kitty is paired with Paavana Gowda in the film, which also stars Rangayana Raghu, Yash Shetty, Sharath Lohitashwa Cockroach Suddhi, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, among others. The film, which has been censored U/A, will be in theatres on February 24, in the run-up to which the team will release the trailer on February 16 at 4.20 pm. The Hindi and Telugu dubbing rights of the film produced by Raghu Singham have already been sold.

The response to the teaser that came out last year was encouraging, with netizens praising the cinematography, action, background score and, most importantly, Kitty’s absolutely fierce look. Singer Shashank Sheshagiri fills in as composer for the film.
