SRK’s Pathaan releases in Leh, at the world’s highest altitude theatre

As the nation continues to celebrate Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film Pathaan, there is no reason that his fans from the remote villages of Ladakh should be left behind. With the movie now releasing at the world’s highest altitude theatre (set up at a height of 11,562 ft) in Leh, the enthusiasm of SRK’s fans knows no bounds.

The cinema hall is established by a mobile digital movie theatre company, called Picturetime, with the intention to bring cinematic entertainment to the farthest corners of India. They installed one of its state-of-the-art inflatable cinema screens in Leh, in 2021.

As Shah Rukh’s fans in Ladakh are quite excited about watching the film of their favourite star, it only makes sense to release the film there. Speaking about it, Sushil Chaudhary - CEO and Founder of PictureTime Digiplex - said, “The entire nation is thrilled to watch Pathaan and so are the beautiful people of Leh. The fandom of Shah Rukh Khan spreads far and wide, and it’s the first time one of his recent movies is released in Leh.”

He also mentioned that his team has been continuously putting in effort to bring marquee cinematic titles to the interior locations of the country. In fact, they have decided to keep similar screenings in a few other remote parts of the country, where the theatre is not easily accessible to the common people.

“We are also doing similar screenings in Asifabad, Sardarshahar, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh too. This is a happy occasion for all SRK fans to come and watch their favourite star on the big screen,” he added.

Directed by Sidharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra, Pathaan had broken all the records of advance-booking before the release of the film. The positive response from the audience also meant that people are finally heading back to the theatres in huge numbers, which, in turn, is translating into a great box-office performance.

Pathaan also stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, along with Salman Khan making a special appearance.
