Kannada cinema’s Talking Star Srujan Lokesh’s debut directorial venture GST is gearing up for theatrical release. The Navagraha actor, who’d ventured into film production with his earlier Ellide Illi Tanaka, partnered with Sandesh Productions (of Ghost , Harikathe Alla Girikathe, Viraat , Ambareesha, etc., fame), for the film, which is a horror comedy.
Srujan had wrapped up principal photography of GST in August 2024, and earlier today, revealed that he’s got it censored as well, signalling his intent to bring it to theatres shortly. The film has been rated U/A and Srujan is hopeful of releasing it in the window between Ekka (July 18) and 45 (August 15). And end of July release is what the actor-filmmaker is keen on, but a final call is expected to be made in the coming days.
GST, which expands as Ghosts in Trouble, also features Rajani Bharadwaj, Niveditha Gowda, Girija Lokesh, Pramod Shetty, Shobhraj, Sharath Lohitashwa, Aravind Rao, Tabla Nani, Ravishankar Gowda and Vinod Gobbaragala. Srujan’s son Sukruth makes his big screen debut, making him the third-generation child actor from the family, after his grand-dad Lokesh in Bhakta Prahlada, and Srujan in Bhujangayyana Dashavatara. Producer Sandesh Nagaraj also has a pivotal cameo in the film.
Interestingly, since the start of the production, Srujan has been tight-lipped about the content of the film, giving away absolutely nothing so far. But if the release is not far off, rest assured, he will begin to drop promotional material, including teasers, songs and the trailer shortly. The actor, who is also a popular television personality, has just wrapped up the latest season of his hit talk show, Majaa Talkies and will now focus on the release strategy of GST.
The film will be Srujan’s first theatrical release since Selfie Mummy Google Daddy, in which he was paired with Meghana Raj. Rajani was last seen in the horror comedy Choo Mantar, which was led by Sharan.
