SS Rajamouli on RRR: For Jr NTR's intro scene, I wanted someone who was more powerful than a tiger

One needs to give credit to SS Rajamouli time and again, not only because has made films like RRR or a Baahubali, but has tirelessly promoted it across the globe, utilising every opportunity to his advantage. If Baahubali put him on a global pedestal, RRR helped him cement his credibility further. His extensive promotional campaign in the US, Japan for RRR reinstates the same. The historical fiction drama was Rajamouli's fourth film with Jr NTR after Student No 1, Simhadri and Yama Donga.

In a recent promotional interview, the filmmaker was all praise for Jr NTR. Calling him an action powerhouse, Rajamouli said Jr NTR was a born actor and is gifted with great memory power. Apparently, whenever he described a scenario or a story, it's permanently ingrained on the actor's mind. "We have such great wavelength and understanding of each other's capabilities and we barely need to communicate. Watching him bring a character to life doesn't surprise me at all," he said.

Remembering Jr NTR's intro sequence in RRR, Rajamouli stated, "I thought it would be very difficult to imagine a sequence where a man faces a tiger, shouts like a tiger and needs to look fiercer than the tiger. However, when I knew I had an actor like Jr NTR, my job became easier." RRR also stars Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris and Alia Bhatt and has music by MM Keeravaani. The film is now streaming on Netflix, ZEE5 and Disney+ Hotstar.

Jr NTR's next is with director Koratala Siva, his 30th film, which will have music by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by the star's brother Nandamuri Kalyanram. After Koratala Siva's project, Jr NTR will move on to Prashanth Neel's actioner. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli will work with Mahesh Babu on an adventure film in 2023 on the lines of Indiana Jones.
