Easily the most anticipated release of 2021, Baahubali filmmaker SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR has resumed shoot in Hyderabad after the Telangana government lifted its lockdown regulations. The film's lead actors Jr NTR and Ram Charan have joined the sets earlier today. Confirming the same, hairstylist Aalim Hakim tweeted a post that read, “Today In Hyderabad, Lockdown 2.0 is lifted and the movies have resumed their shoots.. Starting my day with a Haircut for Superstar Ram Charan @AlwaysRamCharan for the Movie #RRR directed by everyone’s favourite @ssrajamouli Sir.”
Alia Bhatt, who has been paired alongside Ram Charan in the role of Sita, will join team RRR in early July. The film, which has faced multiple delays in shoot owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and several crew members, cast being infected with the virus, is expected to be wrapped up by the first week of August. Produced by DVV Dannayya under DVV Entertainments, RRR's star-heavy cast also comprises Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Rahul Ramakrishna, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson in pivotal parts.
RRR was a lot in the news for the huge bids for the satellite and digital rights across multiple languages. After a bidding war between major streaming platforms, ZEE5 had bagged the streaming rights for all the South Indian languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Streaming giant Netflix, meanwhile, has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for Hindi, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish versions. Before the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the makers had announced that the film would release worldwide on October 13. There's no confirmation if they will adhere to the same date.
