SSMB28: Producer S Naga Vamsi spills the beans about shoot commencement, female leads, release date

Though Mahesh Babu’s upcoming project SSMB28, written and directed by Trivikram, was launched amidst much fanfare in 2022, it didn’t go on floors for a long time. While Mahesh participated in a brief action schedule in the second half of 2022, the script underwent redrafting later and the minor segment that was shot, was scrapped altogether. Owing to the twin-tragedies in the star’s family, the shoot was delayed further. However, it’s time for action now and it’s official!

While promoting his banner’s immediate release Butta Bomma (on January 26), SSMB28’s producer S Naga Vamsi, in a conversation with noted anchor Suma, shared, “The shoot will commence on January 18. Pooja Hegde and Sreeleela will play the female leads. Contrary to media speculation, Sreeleela is not the second lead. She’s as significant to the story as Pooja Hegde and it’s unfair to term someone as ‘first’ and ‘second’ leads. The film is slated for a release on August 11.”

S Thaman scores the music for the film which will have PS Vinod cranking the camera. Navin Nooli is the editor and AS Prakash is the production designer respectively. The film is bankrolled by S Radha Krishna of Haarika and Hassine Creations. The team recently met in Dubai for a few creative discussions as well. There has been wide speculation about the antagonist of SSMB28 with reports suggesting that the makers have finalised Prithviraj Sukumar for the role.

Another wing of the banner, Sithara Enterainments, has many releases lined up, including Butta Bomma, the Telugu remake of Kappela, Panja Vaisshnav Tej’s next PVT04, DJ Tillu’s sequel Tillu Square, Dhanush’s bilingual Sir/Vaathi, Naveen Polishetty’s comic caper Anaganaga Oka Raju and an untitled film with Vijay Deverakonda that’s directed by Jersey maker Gowtam Tinnanuri.
