Actor Raj Tarun, last seen in the village entertainer Anubhavinchu Raja, is getting ready for an urban comedy next, with Stand Up Rahul, where he pairs up with 96, Jaanu actress Varsha Bollamma. Directed by debutant Santo Mohan Veeranki, the film, whose shoot is complete, has him playing a standup comedian for the first time in his career. Nandkumar Abbineni and Bharath Maguluri have produced Stand Up Rahul jointly under Dream Town Productions and HighFive Pictures. A new single from the film, Padhaaa, was launched by actress Rashmika Mandanna earlier this week.
Padhaa, sung by Yasin Nazir, is a typical road-trip number where the pivotal characters in the film have boundless fun, make a lot of memories over a journey. The song has the female lead Varsha Bollamma gradually falling in love with her on-screen romantic interest Rahul, played by Raj Tarun. The characters here are full of mischief, go trekking with their backpacks, enjoy their bike rides, sip early morning chai and are all smiles while forgetting the world around them. The number has a vibe similar to the road-trip sequences in Yeh Jawaani Yeh Deewani.
Rehman's lyrics for Padhaaa are quite apt, easy on the ears and breezy, fitting the lighthearted, happy-go-lucky mood of the film. In a conscious move by Sweekar Agasthi to not be stereotyped for his films set in the rural backdrop in the past, the composer does a fantastic job of adapting himself to the urban milieu effortlessly. The song is exqusitely shot by Sreeraj Raveendran in picturesque locations and it's hard not to fall in love with the visuals. Venella Kishore, Murali Sharma, Indraja, Devi Prasad and Madhurima essay crucial roles in the film.
Stand Up Rahul is edited by Raviteja Girijella with Eshwar Penti roped in as the choregrapher. Uday is the film's art director while the director Santo Mohan Veeranki has penned the story as well. The film's teaser and other promos caught the attention of audiences recently. The producer of Ghani, Siddu Mudda, is the presenter of the project.
