Santo Mohan Veeranki, the brain behind the popular storytelling club Tale Tellers Troupe, is turning a film director with an urban comedy Stand Up Rahul. Featuring Raj Tarun and Varsha Bollamma in the lead, the story revolves around the highs and lows in the personal and professional life of a stand up comedian Rahul. The film is produced by Nandkumar Abbineni and Bharath Maguluri under Dream Town Productions and HighFive Pictures. Stand Up Rahul is all set to hit theatres on March 18.

The film's theatrical trailer launched recently presents Raj Tarun in a new, refreshing urban avatar, marking a departure from his massy, rural outings. Murli Sharma and Indraja are cast as Raj Tarun's on-screen parents in the film where Devi Prasad, Madhurima Narla, Vennela Kishore and others too play crucial roles. C/O Kancharapalem fame Sweekar Agasthi is scoring the music for the project. Two songs from the film, Ala Ila and Padhaaa, have opened to impressive responses from music lovers all over.

Going by the promos, Rahul, the titular character is showcased as a character who's not yet sure of his decisions and has to overcome his inhibitions if he has to succeed in his career and love life. The interpersonal relationships in the film between Rahul and his parents, the characters played by Vennela Kishore, Varsha Bollamma and others promise an interesting outing. The technical crew of Stand Up Rahul includes cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran, editor Raviteja Girijella and art director Uday. The streaming partner hasn't been announced yet.
