This Friday is no less than an opening weekend at a theatre, which seems like a far-fetched dream right now. Due to the covid-19 induced pandemic, most of the movies, which were supposed to be theatre releases, were postponed. But some of them are finding their way to OTT platforms now. OTT platforms have given audiences the thrill of watching new movies from the comfort of their houses.
While we wait for theatres to re-open, clear your time this weekend as it’s going to be jam packed with some great films and series releasing on OTTs. From thriller to horror and sprinkling of rom-com, there is something for everyone.
In this Dnyanesh Zoting directorial, Jimmy Sheirgill essays the role of celebrated top cop, SHO Manoj Hessi. Asha Negi, Sparsh Shrivastav and Rajshri Despande star in pivotal roles in this thrilling film. The film centres around a hostage situation in an esteemed school, with a suicide bomber threatening to blow it up if Hessi doesn’t follow his instructions. Time is ticking as Hesse is forced to commit a series of crimes as his dark past catches up with him.
In Akshaye Khanna’s OTT debut, the viewers will be taken on a gritty ride. Based on true events, the film will trace the 2002 attack on Akshardham temple in Gujarat where the NSG saved the day. The Ken Ghosh directorial also stars Vivek Dahiya, Manjari Fadnnis, Gautam Rode and Akshay Oberoi. The film is the sequel to State of Siege: 26/11, which chronicled the narrative of NSG commandos rescuing Mumbai during the titular terrorist attack.

Chathur Mukham is a paranormal horror thriller, featuring a malevolent spirit, wreaking havoc and killing people through technology. Starring Manju Warrier, The Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V directorial is bound to give you the heebie jeebies.

Netflix original series, Virgin River comes back with its third instalment as the last season ended on a cliffhanger where the viewers were left with a plethora of questions. This Alexandra Brekenridge, Tim Matheson and Martin Henderson starrer will deal with Mel Monroe and her loved ones facing a fire, custody battles and death among other troubles.
Atypical is back with its fourth and final season on Netflix. This heartwarming show follows Sam, a teenager on the Autistic spectrum. A relatable endearing comedy which educates the viewers without being preachy. Atypical is a must watch. Check out our reasons for watching this show here.
