STR 48 update: Makers of Silambarasan-starrer concentrate on elaborate set works of the high-octane actioner

Actor Silambarasan who was last seen in Pathu Thala, is currently working on his yet-to-be titled project STR 48. Backed by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, the film is directed by Desingh Periyasamy.

While the makers had recently launched the first look of the film , speculations say that the film's set work is in progress at brisk pace and the shoot will resume from mid of March.

Progress on STR 48

STR 48, which is Silambarasan a.k.a Simbu’s 48th outing as lead actor, is one of the highly-mounted and much-anticipated films from the Tamil film industry. The film is directed by Desingh Periyasamy who had earlier made Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (2020).

While the makers released the first-look poster a while ago, featuring Simbu in dual roles, it is highly anticipated that the actor will come in two avatars and play both the protagonist and villain in STR 48. Reports also suggest that the grand set works for the film are ongoing and the shooting will begin by mid-March. Official updates regarding the film are expected to be made by the makers as the production progresses.

Earlier, STR 48's first look was launched. Giving a mythical style to the first look, the poster featured two side-profile faces of Silambarasan looking at each other with rage.

Will Mrunal Thakur make Tamil debut with STR 48?

While Silambarasan is nearly confirmed to play dual roles, details about the female lead of the film is still kept under wraps. Reports suggest that Sita Ramam-fame Mrunal Thakur will play the female lead, making her debut in Tamil. It will also be interesting to see the onscreen chemistry shared by Mrunal and Simbu.

It is to be noted that STR48 will mark the director’s first collaboration with Silambarasan. R Mahendran and Kamal Haasan are backing the STR48 under the banner Raaj Kamal Film International. However, the makers remain guarded about the film’s plot. They are also yet to announce the cast and technical crew members. The release date of the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
