Director Ashwath Marimuthu who made his directorial debut with Oh My Kadavule, is all set for the release of his second film Dragon starring actor and filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu. The film is slated for release on February 21.
However, all eyes are set on his next project STR 51, for which he will be collaborating with Silambarasan. While a title is yet to be announced, all we know is that the actor will be playing the God of Love in Ashwath Marimuthu’s fantasy entertainer. In a chat with OTTplay, Ashwath opens up on what to expect from STR 51.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu, in a conversation with OTTplay, talks about his next film with Silambarasan. The filmmaker is clear that all his projects will be family friendly and will cater to all age groups to watch in theatres. Similarly, STR 51 will also be a family-friendly film.
“STR 51 will be catering to all age groups. It is a fantasy film and the moment it is that genre, it is kids friendly. The moment you have STR, it is mass friendly and there is romance too. It applies for Dragon as well,” said Ashwath.
STR 51 is a fantasy commercial entertainer, in which Silambarasan will play God of Love. The film is said to bring the golden days of Silambarasan back on screen, and is scheduled for release in summer 2026.
Meanwhile, Ashwath is awaiting the release of Dragon for which he has collaborated with his long time friend Pradeep Ranganathan. The film also features KS Ravi Kumar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Vj Siddhu, Harshath Khan, Anupama Parameshwaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mariam George, Indhumathy Manigandan, Thenappan and others.
Dragon will release on February 21, and will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. AGS Entertainment has produced the film.
