At Netflix's season 4 premiere party, the Stranger Things cast teases Vecna, the show's newest enemy. All heroes are heroes, but great villains are loved by all. In Stranger Things, viewers will encounter Vecna, a terrifying, strong lich that crawls upside down and wrecks havoc in Hawkins in the upcoming fourth season.

Executive producer and director Shawn Levy told Variety during the global premiere of Stranger Things 4 in Brooklyn, New York, that Vecna makes Demogorgon appear cute.

According to David Harbor, who plays Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper, Vecna embodies a new type of horror that Stranger Things viewers have never seen before, Vecna embodies a new type of horror that Stranger Things viewers have never He explained that Vecna is a psychological nightmare that he doesn't believe they have seen before. They have never seen anything as calculatedly psychologically terrible as this in the Upside Down, which has been this wild west environment with animals wandering around and violence. That's intriguing because Vecna is a truly big bad that the series has desperately needed.

Hopper appears to have been slain in the third season, which was released over three years ago, by sacrificing himself to lock the gate upside-down. He is, however, far from dead and is being imprisoned in an icy Russian gulag. Harbour went on to say that when this happens, a piece of his character dies. Hopper needed to shed these layers that had built up on him, this type of gunk that was keeping him from being the man who could fight this evil in the Upside Down.

Harbour said that his storyline is a little different, so he doesn't directly deal with Vecna, but he does have to deal with a Demogorgon in a Russian prison. It's quite frightening.

Vecna was revived mostly with practical effects in honour of the first season of Stranger Things and the horror films of the 1980s that influenced it. Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, claimed that the use of special effects on set inspired him. Keery remarked that, as a fan of practical effects and classic horror-adventure movies, there aren't many people doing things like this, so the fan in him was flipping out.

Dustin Henderson's Gaten Matarazzo mocked Vecna for taking the series in unexpected directions. The actor added that the most bizarre thing is how new and fresh the villain feels in comparison to previous villains. It's something that gives Stranger Things a whole new vibe in terms of how they deal with the villains now and in the future.

The horror components that make Vecna so horrifying go beyond the conventional jumpscare cliche, according to Priah Ferguson, who plays the spunky Erica Sinclair. She stated that Vecna is a terrifying creature; it's something that causes mental havoc. Ferguson believes that this will frighten the viewers a little more, because nothing terrifies her more than jump scares.

She continued, saying that as the show progresses, it always gets darker and scarier, and that's because the crowd grows.

According to the trailer, Stranger Things season 4 will have two release dates, with the first four episodes appearing on May 27 and the second set of episodes following on July 1.
