Fans of Netflix’s Stranger Things have already endured a long wait between its seasons. And from what one of its stars Finn Wolfhard has hinted, the wait could be even longer. The third season of the hit sci-fi horror-thriller series that follows a group of teenagers and is set in the 80s, was released in 2019 and now, it seems that the fourth season will come out only in 2022.
When asked about the release of the new season which has restarted filming now, Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the series, said in a Fanmio video call that it “should be out some time next year”. Netflix is yet to officially announce the expected date of release.
The filming of the fourth season had begun early last year in Lithuania, but the pandemic brought it to halt. Production restarted late last year and is still ongoing. The cast of the film though has said that it will be the darkest and biggest season yet.
Actress Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, told Vogue in an interview last year, “It’s going to be a while before it comes out, it will definitely be worth it. It’s going to be really big.” Considering the surge in popularity of the series, which debuted in 2016, and how the story has panned out till now, we too believe it will be well worth the wait.
Stranger Things, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder and Gaten Matarazzo among others, is directed by The Duffer Brothers. If you still haven’t caught up on the three seasons of the series, head to Netflix right now!
